Year 12 Graduation

Congratulations to Year 12, 2018,  on their Graduation on Wednesday 26 September. It was the culmination of six years of high school which was celebrated in a number ways. Students challenged staff to an Oz Tag match on Friday, followed by a bit of fun on  Monday, when students dressed up  on gender bender day. The last day of school was one of social interaction and relaxation. Students participated in Carnivale.

Carnivale has become a tradition at Gymea for students. Year 12 students get to have an inclusive celebration of the end of high school. They enjoyed a jumping castle, a water slide, sumo wrestling, tug-of-war, soccer, volley ball, a BBQ and icecream with all of the enjoyment that goes with these activities. The formal end to high school was their Graduation Assembly.

The Graduation Assembly recognised each individual student, but also celebrated the talents of Year 12 and their six year high school journey. There were also a number of special awards. The special award recipients were:

  • Adara Manos – Year 12 Dux
  • Dane Lovell – Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Award
  • Seamus Lilley – Reuben F Scarf Award for Commitment and Achievement
  • Violetta Mucerino – Gayner Ivers Award for leadership and community involvement
  • Tyler Towns – Sporting Excellence Award

Thank you to their Year Advisers, Ms Victoria McGovern and Mr James Wilson for always looking after this group and having their best interests at heart. We wish Year 12 all the best for the future and in their HSC examinations.
