Wellbeing Focus for the SLA

The World Health Organisation defines wellbeing as “the state in which an individual realises his or her own abilities, can cope with normal stresses of life, can work productively, and is able to make a contribution to his or her own community”.

This term the Student Leadership Assembly (SLA) will be running a series of initiatives aiming to highlight and promote the issues of mental health, wellbeing and self-esteem for all students. The first of these was the painting of our school Wellbeing Mural on Monday (picture below) where all staff and students were invited to contribute to the mural by splashing a colour of their choosing that promoted positive emotions.

This is linked to a series of workshops organised by our school and the SLA on the 12th and 13th of November focusing on wellbeing, self-esteem and healthy relationships. These workshops will be delivered by Headspace; a national organisation who works with young people to provide support at a crucial time in their lives to help get them back on track and strengthen their ability to manage their own mental health.

In conjunction with these workshops, a brightly coloured mufti day and cake stall will be run on Monday 12th November to promote the importance of supporting each other and our mental wellbeing.

Please show your support by donating a gold coin, wearing bright colours and purchasing cakes donated by our staff and students on Monday 12th of November to assist our school to fund similar wellbeing projects in the future.
