Twugia Project

Congratulations to Lucas Clancy of year 9, who was part of the Twugia program 2017. Twugia is the Dharug word for  “star”  and the Twugia Project is an enrichment program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students that was developed in 2006 for high-achieving students.

This fantastic program is showcased by Western Sydney University each year, offering curriculum enrichment through an innovative and engaging STEM project. We are very proud of Lucas, as student participation in this program is by invitation only.

The students involved in the program came together from 19 different schools. They attended a two day camp at the University and participated  in other activities, sharing ideas, working and learning together as they completed their Aboriginal Astronomy Project. Lucas worked with 2 other students on a prezi presentation and poster display (shown below). On the last day of the program the students presented their project to family,  personnel involved in the delivery of the program and to other invited guests.

Lucas made many new friends and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with and learn with other students throughout this fantastic program.
