Strong Messages on Student Wellbeing

Jonny Shannon addressing year 7-10 studnents

This term has seen our students immersed in a range of wellbeing activities during year assemblies and special presentations. Through these valuable experiences, students have gained a deeper understanding of everyone’s role and responsibility in maintaining respectful and inclusive relationships everyday – both in person and online, and how this is critical for student happiness, wellbeing and success in school.

On Thursday 8 June, each of our junior year groups, 7-10, participated in a year assembly focused on Respectful Relationships. Mr Marsh and the Year Advisers presented to each year group the differences between conflict and bullying, both individually and within groups, the importance of respectful relationships, and the ways in which students can look after each other and themselves both at school and online.

In the afternoon, we were extremely fortunate to have had motivational speaker, Jonny Shannon, present to all students from years 7-10 on important issues such as Friendships, Bullying, and Online Safety.

Jonny was a most engaging and entertaining presenter who delivered humorous yet powerful messages to students about building friendships, strength and resilience. Jonny shared many personal, honest and funny stories that really connected with our students, leaving them truly amazed with the significance of the issues raised. He also gave empowering tips about being safe and respectful and ways of helping and supporting each other and the difference this can make.
