Senior Support Workshops

Our program of senior HSC workshops has developed and is providing each of our students with deeper insight into their study and performance. With a real reflection on their data from personal performances in each of their courses, our students are drawing together a good analysis of what they need to do to improve.

For year 11, workshops commenced in week five of this term with a day that focused on:

  1. Reflecting on performance and identifying what has helped and hindered with their academic, organisational and lifestyle approaches.
  2. Social Engagement – Understanding the power of social cohesion to maximise performance and happiness at school and provide opportunities for great personal and group reflection.
  3. Pathways – understanding that success comes through consistent effort in so many areas of school no matter what the pathway is. Students were engaged in thinking around what their individual pathway could be following high school and what they need to do to get there.
  4. Study notes and note taking – Students were provided with an understanding and practical strategies to improve class note taking and the preparation and development of study notes to help consolidate course work understanding and in turn, constructive preparation for the examinations.

Following this, two additional study skills workshops have been organised to help Year 11 students with targeted study and preparation for their upcoming Preliminary examinations, as well as tips and techniques to maximise their performance during examinations.

Year 12 students will undertake their final academic workshops as they reflect on their Trial HSC results using tertiary entrance scores to analyse their performance. These workshops are focused on making the most of the final weeks of high school, preparing for the HSC examinations and planning for next year.

A number of teachers have been involved and lead these workshops. Our thanks to each of them for the time and effort they put in to give our kids that extra hand.
