  • La Trobe University
  • Macquarie University
  • Southern Cross University

Scholarships

There are a number of scholarships available, including academic, community and sporting scholarships. There are also teaching scholarships for some secondary subjects and primary special education. To find a list of scholarships go to: www.myfuture.edu.au, click on “The search” and then “Scholarships” or look on university websites

Details of the many scholarships are available either from the Universities or from the school Careers Adviser. Most applications must be in by 28th September, but check this with the university as dates can vary. Information on scholarships is available on the university websites. Check these regularly. Scholarships are very competitive so take care with your application and allow yourself plenty of time.

EDUCATIONAL ACCESS SCHEME (EAS):

Most Universities will allow entry into courses for students with a lower ATAR than the cut-off, if they can demonstrate that their educational performance has been severely affected by circumstances beyond their control for at least 6 months during Years 11 and 12. Students must provide documentation to support their applications.English language difficulty, personal illness/disability, home environment and responsibilities, disrupted schooling, or financial hardship are the basic considerations. Get an application form from your Careers Adviser or download a copy from www.uac.edu.au/undergraduate/eas .

Applications open early August and Applications close: 30th September 2013.

Equity Scholarships:

These scholarships are awarded to help students who are experiencing financial difficulties or having other hardships, as set out in Educational Access Scheme. These scholarships are given on a means basis, so not everyone who applies will receive a scholarship. Application forms are available from your Careers Adviser, or can be downloaded from the internet at www.uac.edu.au/equity.

Applications close 27th September 2013.

UTS Science Scholarships valued from $6000 to $10000, for high achieving students to study science or math at UTS. The Careers Adviser has information or go to www.science.uts.edu.au/scholarships

UNSW Academic Achievement Award The school is invited to nominate its top achieving student to receive a $4000 scholarship. The nominated student will also receive a guaranteed offer into a course at UNSW provided their ATAR is within 5 points of the published cut-off. Interested students should speak to their Careers Adviser

Some universities have Co-Op programs which are highly prestigious and include industry-sponsored work placements as part of the course. Selection is by application and is based on a combination of personal and academic qualities. Co-Op programs are available at University of NSW, University of Wollongong, University of Technology, University of Sydney and Charles Sturt University.

St George Leagues Club offers one female and one male student an amount of $1,500 per year, tenable for a full time course at any university in NSW. This is for a student whose parent is a member of the Club. Application forms are available from the Club’s Reception Desk and must be returned prior to the commencement of the HSC examination.
