HSC Success and Support

Year 12 is a busy time for students as they study for the Higher School Certificate and make plans for life after school.  To assist students through this journey we have implemented a comprehensive program of HSC support to help students with their studies and with planning for future post school pathways during this crucial time.

Our program of support includes:

  • Academic and ATAR workshops:  all students were involved in these during weeks 3 and 4 of this term. Students were led through refection of their half yearly examination performance, setting goals for the year and identifying what they need to do to achieve their goals.
  • University Information sessions: have been and continue to be delivered by  different universities providing students with valuable insight and information on applying for courses. Universities delivering these sessions include Sydney University, University of Technology, University of Wollongong, Notre Dame University, Western Sydney University and University of NSW. Information on university scholarships and other special schemes have also been organised. These have been scheduled throughout May and June and students choose which ones they would like to attend.
  • Academic Advisers: all students have been assigned an academic adviser to help them throughout the year. Students meet with their adviser regularly and discuss their progress, study, goals and anything else they may need help with.
  • Pathways interviews: Mrs Hristodoulou is conducting individual interviews with year 12 about their pathways following the HSC. A plan is being formulated that highlights their aspirations and also determines back up plans if needed. These plans will be sent home to share with parents once the interviews are conducted.
  • HSC Support Day on Tuesday 30 May.  We have organised various activities focused on both study and wellbeing.  Students will be involved in  different workshops such as note taking and making summaries; thinking positively; exam technique and preparing for exams; wellness and settling stress.
