Deputy Principal’s Report – Mrs Koukoutaris

Term 4 will be a busy one for all students and staff with end of year assessments, yearly examinations, end of year reports and many other activities.  I have outlined a number of events that both parents and students need to be aware of.

This year’s NAPLAN results have been posted home to each family in Years 7 and 9. This year there was a nationwide delay on the distribution of results. Please take some time to review your child’s performance and highlight the successes across the different aspects of the tests. The back page of the results provides a breakdown of each response in every aspect of the test.

Students are given task notices for all assessment tasks which for most courses are also available on our school’s website. It is important that students refer to these to help them plan their time effectively so that all assessments are completed to the best of their ability.

It will be a very busy term for year 10 as they prepare for year 11 and the commencement of their senior studies. In addition to assessments and yearly examinations, all year 10 students will complete two programs this term that are mandatory for all year 11 students. The “HSC: All my own work” program has been developed by the Board of Studies to help Higher School Certificate students gain an understanding of ethical practice and student responsibility regarding their work.  The “Crossroads” program has been developed to support students as they address issues relating to relationships and drug issues. Both programs will be run at school later this term. The year 10 formal dinner will be held on Wednesday  18th December. Further details will be distributed to students.

Year 9 students will be offered a fantastic leadership opportunity to train as Peer Support leaders. As peer support leaders, they will have an important role in helping our new year 7 students as they start high school next year. The two day training will occur later this term. Mrs Garioch and Mrs Mitchell co-ordinate this program and will distribute information to students.
