A Great Year 9 Camp

Year 9 Camp Image 1

From the 11th to the 13th of October, our Year 9 students along with Ms Osborne, Mr Wilson, Mrs Skeen and Mrs Edwards spent three sun-filled days at the Outdoor Education Camp at Gosford. The camp was not only an opportunity for students to step outside of their comfort zones and test their confidence and skills on many challenging activities, it was also a chance for them to strengthen existing friendships and build new ones as they supported each other through the camp challenges.

The camp instructors commented on just how willing our students were to “give everything a go”, completing challenges such as archery, abseiling, a tree lined high ropes course, the very messy mud challenge course, the flying fox (most of the student’s favourite activity), the giant swing and an 15 metre high leap of faith. Their energy and enthusiasm did not waver once night-time fell, working hard (and somewhat cheating) to beat the teachers at the commando challenge, playing continual games of “44 home” and impressing their teachers with their strength and agility at the team challenge night.

Our students were wonderful representatives of our school, with all groups displaying a strong sense of support, encouragement and respect for their camp instructors and their teachers, but most of all, for each other. Congratulations to all of our Year 9 students on being such positive and respectful representatives of our school, and thank you to their year adviser, Ms Osborne, for all of her work in organising this team building adventure for her year group.

Team building activities were a great way to strengthen friendships.

And some activities were not for the faint hearted.
