- Congratulations to our Year 9 students for their participation in this week’s wellbeing and resilience initiative.
- This encompassed a series of Zoom seminars run by the Kids Help Line focusing on problem-solving strategies to help us overcome hurdles that sometimes arise.
- The sessions have received positive feedback from our Year 9 students who engaged so enthusiastically and respectfully this week.
This week has seen our Year 9 Year Adviser, Mrs Kalergis, launch a wellbeing initiative for Year 9 on Resilience. Through the assistance of the Kids Help Line, our Year 9 students have been participating a zoom sessions throughout this week connecting them with counsellors from the Kids Help Line who have led them through small group activities and online discussions focused around building resilience skills.
The session went through the POOCH (P-problem, O-Options, O-outcomes, CH-choose) strategy to overcome problems that may arise in their personal lives. It allowed our students to think and share with each other, Mrs Kalergis and the counsellor leading the session about how they could use this strategy to help them focus on positive solutions to every day problems or scenarios.
The counsellors have been so impressed with the enthusiastic and respectful way our students have interacted with them over the Zoom sessions and it is wonderful to hear the positive feedback our Year 9 students have provided us on the value they have in this initiative.
The remaining classes will be participating next week.
Congratulations Year 9!
