Junior (7-10) Yearly Examinations

Key Points

  • The junior (7-10) yearly examinations are scheduled from Thursday 12 November-Thursday 19 November
  • The timetable of examinations is available for download.
  • Examinations will follow after the High school Certificate examinations are completed and will be conducted within the COVID-19 safe guidelines.

This term all students in years 7-10 will sit formal examinations in the school hall. These examinations will be held for all core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science and HSIE (History/Geography). Results will contribute to final report marks. Other subjects also have assessments that will be scheduled during normal lessons. Task notices outlining all details will be given to students. They will also be available on the school website.

Preparing for exams

It’s important that students start exam preparation early and allocate time to all subjects to help them do their best. Setting aside regular study time for study, practising exam style questions under timed conditions and writing summaries are some ways  students can form good routines for study and success.

Knowing what to expect

Knowing the weighting, length and format of the exam will also help students be well prepared. Does the exam have different sections, multiple choice questions, short answers, extended responses, problem solving? How much time should be allocated to each of the different sections of the exam? Is equipment such as a calculator and ruler required?
