2020 Stage 5 and 6 Subject Choices

Our year 8 and 9 students will be completing their elective choices for courses they wish to study in 2020. This was done at school, online, on Monday 12 August. The next stage of this process involves sorting this data using our timetable software to determine the best fit of subjects based on what the students have elected to study.

All year 10 students will be interviewed individually by a Curriculum Advisor on Wednesday 14 August, who will have one-to-one discussions with each student about their aspirations, strengths and interests while choosing subjects for 2020. In addition to this, current study patterns will be a focus of the discussion and study goals identified as they prepare for Year 11. Each student will be provided with a summary of these discussions.

Our information night on Tuesday 6 August was well attended and provided valuable information for students and parents. The Stage 6 open night that followed for 2020 Year 11 was a great success, providing students and families with a unique opportunity to talk to head teachers and teachers and ask all those critical questions about courses to assist with those important decisions for year 11 and 12 studies. It was a great way to gain a deeper understanding of courses to help students and parents make informed decisions about pattern of study for the next stage of high school.

For those Year 8 and Year 9 students who are part of our talented technology program, options of study for 2020 have been presented to the students allowing their voice and interest to guide directions for 2020.

Helping students make the right choices for subjects is our objective during this crucial time and we were very happy to see so many parents involved in the process and the maturity and focus of year 10 in preparing for senior school.
