Remembrance Day

On Monday 11 November, our captains, Ellen Marsh and Rhys Thomsen, and vice-captains Reanna Fitzgerald and Sean Record represented Gymea Technology High School at the Remembrance Day Service at the Miranda War Memorial as invited guests of the Miranda RSL sub-branch.

The school enjoys a close association with the Miranda RSL Club and the Remembrance Day service, in among other important services that our students take part in, as a respectful remembrance of the sacrifices of wars and conflicts.

All four students paid their respects during the service, laying a wreath at the cenotaph and observing a moment of remembrance.

Our students have constructed our own cenotaph near the school’s flagpoles. It is an area that is hedged and maintained, allowing the whole school to come together and observe such days as Remembrance, in a solemn and respectful manner. This year with fire danger, heat and air quality at emergency levels, we were not able to continue with our service at school.

Thank you to our Captains and Vice Captains for their representation at the Miranda service.

Lest we forget.
