2018 Snow Trip

Arriving at the school at 1:30pm as requested, our 45 year 9 and 10 students and three teachers departed perfectly on time for the annual snow trip, setting the tone of the trip – punctuality! Despite an excited and noisy first night with limited sleep, our students woke up bright and early, excited for their first run on the slope. Much to the shock of their sleepy teachers, the entire group was ready to go before the 7:15am departure time and did not miss a single deadline throughout the entire trip.

Although the winds howled each night, the snow did not disappoint with fresh powder falling overnight and during the morning on Tuesday, providing some of our students a true first-time snow experience. With all runs open, our students jumped straight into their lessons to explore and learn, enjoying their experience and most of all, supporting each other to try new tricks and techniques. Tuesday and Wednesday provided a little free time in the afternoons, where our students could buddy up and re-explore the runs they had learnt to practice and improve. It was fantastic to see our students giving it their best, even excitedly braving the cold winds on Tuesday morning to head straight back up the slopes.

The evenings gave us all some downtime, and after the excitement of Sunday night, we all enjoyed a much more subdued and restful evening on Monday, with Tuesday evening resulting in a spontaneous yoga class led by Ms Heath. And while our student’s strength was definitely always being on time, their ability to hold onto and organise their belongings was a whole different kettle of fish. Wrist guards, gloves, pants, even a go-pro seemed to disappear and reappear throughout the trip.

Wednesday provided some outstanding sunshine and more fresh powder to give us a blue-bird day of skiing all day and was a fantastic way to end another successful ski camp. Congratulations to all of our students who participated in the camp so well. Thank you to Mr Liley for his organisation of the camp, and to Mr Fallah, Ms Heath and Mrs Edwards for taking time away from their families to venture out onto the slopes with the students and encourage them to get a good night’s sleep in the evenings.
