Year 11 departed for ‘The Great Aussie Bush Camp’ at Kincumber in week 3, eager and ready for 3 days of their compulsory “crossroads” program, as well as adventure activities, team building and of course limited sleeping.
‘The Great Aussie Bush Camp’ is an Outdoor Education camp, where time was spent enjoying outdoor activities such as The Giant Swing and Power Fan (for the adrenaline seekers), archery, raft building and abseiling. The compulsory ‘Crossroad’ program that must be completed by all year 11 students was delivered at the camp. Students participated in sessions aimed at supporting them to address issues related to identity, independence and the changing responsibilities they face as young adults.
The camp supervisors were so impressed with the positive attitude and maturity of year 11 and what a great group of students we have at Gymea Technology High School. Year 11 had a fantastic and exhausting time away as highlighted by the quite sleepy bus trip back home.
