On Tuesday morning, both Year 9 Forensic Archaeology classes went on an excursion to Woronora Cemetery. During the excursion we completed activities that furthered our knowledge about tombstones and the depth of information they can provide. We were asked to compare and contract the tombstones. From this, we were able to make determinations about wealth, religion, gender, age of death and sometimes even attributes of the deceased. We were then required to complete ‘Survey Marker ‘ sheets to use for further analysis in the classroom.
Overall, the excursion was successful as we gained knowledge and understanding of the topic we are currently studying.
