On Wednesday the 1st June 20 year10 Physical Activity and Sport Science class made the bus trip out to Treetops Adventure Park as part of their Participate with Safety unit of work. The weather on Wednesday was overcast with the threat of rain, however, our students were not daunted by a little drizzle.
Our year 10 adventurers were keen to put their climbing skills to the test. After arriving at the venue, our students were briefed on the rules, safety and techniques of climbing. After a trial climb, they were released on the course.
The students, all veterans of the high rope courses of the year 9 camp last year, powered their way through a variety of elements with some challenging obstacles such as tunnels, cargo nets ,ladders and flying foxes. The elements of the courses were all connected so once the students began the course they never touch the ground until they had finished.
The students all managed to finish the course within 3 hours. Some students had sore hands from gripping the ropes too hard, but all felt that the excursion was a great challenge and well worth their while.
