At the end of last term a selected group of Year 9, 10 and 11 students went on an 2 hour excursion to Gymea TAFE. This excursion was planned to provide students with an overview of some of the courses offered at TAFE.
On the day students went on a tour of TAFE and spent 15minutes at 10 different stations of courses. This allowed students to get an insight of what was involved in each course and participated in some hands on activities. Some of the courses included were Automotive, Carpentry & Joinery, Plumbing, Children’s Services, Information Technology, Travel & Tourism, Electro-technology, Hairdressing, Hospitality and Horticulture. The Fire Brigade and Defence Forces were also present for students to talk to.
Students were issued a passport which was stamped at every course they attended. Once they had completed the passport they handed it to the tour guide which then went into a barrel to win some prizes. Two of our students were fortunate to be lucky winners, Billy Richards of Year 10 won the major prize which was mini iPad and Mali McNamee won $30 movie gif voucher.
Students received a show bag of information on various courses and had a sausage sizzle for lunch and the excursion was enjoyed by all the students.
