Successes Highlighted in External School Validation

The School Excellence Framework supports all NSW public schools in their pursuit of excellence by providing a clear description of the key elements of high-quality practice across the three domains of learning, teaching and leading. The Framework is based on a review of national and international practice at the system, school and classroom level, including the National School Improvement Tool developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research.

This term an external validation team ratified the schools self assessment against this framework. The process required the school to develop evidence sets that identifies our achievements within the framework on the scale of Delivering, Sustaining and Growing, through to Excelling. The school’s self assessment supported by the external validation team sees the school sustaining and growing in all elements except for 4 areas where the school was identified as Excelling. The areas of evidence presented include:

  • The Head Start to High School Program
  • Positive Behaviour for Learning
  • Professional Learning
  • Individualising learning
  • 21st Century Learning
  • Assessment and reporting

We were commended on the number of excellent programs we run here at school and the collaboration and professionalism of our school community. The evidence sets clearly showed that there are some fantastic things happening that are supported by students, teachers and our families. Congratulations to all.

A presentation of the validation process against the excellence framework will be presented at a P&C meeting in term 1 next year in conjunction with school strategic planning.
