On Thursday 16th June our student technology teams: the C2L Team and LabRats, participated in a leadership-training incursion designed to encourage the students to lead their peers through the safe and respectful use of technology.
The first half of the training day led students through a series of activities on what it means to be an effective leader. Students worked individually and then in teams to assess their current skills as a leader, including how to follow others as well as how to effectively communicate and listen to each other and their peers. The two groups were then set their first official challenge – to develop a series of troubleshooting videos designed to assist their peers to manage their own BYOD devices.
The students, filled with lots of interesting and creative ideas, were very keen to begin designing their videos. You will hear more about these as they are developed.
The LabRats, led by Mrs Korkidas, are a group of very keen year 7 students who will be trained to troubleshoot and maintain the new technology centre. This is a fantastic opportunity for our year 7 students, providing them with hands on experience and allowing them to build their technological and leadership skills.
The C2L team, led by Mrs Edwards and Mr Liley, are comprised of a selection of students from years 8, 9 and 10 who are primarily focused on connecting student and teacher’s BYOD devices to our network. They are a clever group of students who are trained to troubleshoot all platforms and can assist anyone who has a 5GHz device capable of connecting to our network.
The year 8 and 9 students have also volunteered their own time to run a C2L Helpdesk on Monday’s and Thursday’s during recess to assist their peers who may be having connection troubles or issues accessing the Internet. If you are having trouble with your personal device, please visit the Helpdesk in Room 3 to see if these very clever students can assist you.
