So much has been achieved by our staff and students this term. As the term ends, I have highlighted some of the more recent events for Years 7, 11 and 12.
Year 7: Transition programs undertaken last year; the Year 7 camp, along with regular welfare and support have assisted Year 7 to settle in well to high school.
As Half Yearly Reports will not be sent home until the end of Term 2, the school has issued Interim Reports to provide more timely feedback to parents on the progress of their child. Accompanying the report was an invitation to attend a Year 7 Gymea School Community Gathering at 5.30pm – 6.30pm on 14th May to overview Year 7’s first term at high school and give parents the opportunity to speak with staff and parents from our P&C Association.
Year 11: Year 11 students are now one third of the way through to the completion of their Preliminary HSC course. Students have adjusted well to the organisation of the day and now need to focus on the preparation for their Half Yearly Examinations, which take place in the first two weeks of next term. Study habits established or refined in Year 11 auger well for a student and are a solid foundation for success in their HSC year.
Year 12: Year 12 have completed their Half Yearlies this week. Students need to seek feedback from these tasks in order to refine or adjust their application to each course. Term two is a busy time for Year 12. Students need to ensure their assessments are completed on time and to the best of their ability. This will ensure that their final mark and rank is indicative of their potential. A disciplined and focused approach is required.
