As part of the Year 9 Commerce program, students worked on a team project as part of the “Running a Business” topic. Last week they held their “Sydney Tourism Expo” to promote their hypothetical Pacific Island resorts that they have developed. Each team had been working over a few weeks to develop a tourism operation they could promote with their own stall at the Expo. The promotion materials they developed included a model of their resort (made using Lego, Minecraft and other software design tools), brochures, business cards, a resort website and even prototypes for an exclusive line of products that they would sell at their resort. The students really immersed themselves in the project and proudly promoted their resort to the teachers and Year 10 students who attended the Expo as potential tourists and customers.
