Year 9 Forensic Archaeology students trekked to Sydney University on Friday, 8th March to visit the Nicholson Museum. Here we met with an archaeologist who gave us a guided tour of the museum, focusing on human remains and the archaeological processes used in their discovery. Of particular note was the Lego scaled replica of the Colosseum and Young Horus, whose identity is still a mystery but we now know the mummy is a male. Students got to handle artefacts that were over 5,000 years old and trialled some of the processes involved in recording archaeological information. We also experienced a ‘Hogwarts’ moment by exploring the the Great Hall, where all Sydney University students graduate. Truly, a memorable experience.
