On the 1st August, the SLA ran a Multicultural day, to celebrate diversity within our school.
We had multiple stalls running throughout the day. Years 7 and 8 participated in these stalls which were Greek dancing, a Chinese Stall, French crepe making stall, a trivia and poster competition and a multicultural art stall. The coffee shop was also transformed into an American Style café with donuts, hotdogs and fries that sold out faster than you could blink!
These stalls were run by the teachers and students and everyone enjoyed them. We would like to thank those students who were involved in the stalls and participated or helped out to make the day so successful. We would also like to thank the teachers in charge of those stalls: Mr Liley, Mrs McGovern, Mrs Kay, Mrs Green, Miss Le, Miss Vaccaro and Mrs Sarcia.
At lunch time, we had a band of Year 11 and 12 students perform in the quad for the whole school to enjoy and a troupe of Year 9 girls performed a Spanish inspired dance piece in the hall, choreographed by Mrs Johnson. At the very end of the day, two talented students, Perry (Year 12) and Orion (Year 10) entertained us on the bouzouki and the piano and the girls performed their dance again for all of Year 7 and 8 to watch. Thank you to all the students involved and to Mrs Johnson for the dance piece.
Multicultural Day was a huge success, with so much energy and excitement flowing around the school. We are looking forward to even bigger and better things next year.
