A day of fun and fieldwork in the rainforest- a great way to end the Term.
All of Year 7 piled into two coaches and headed south to Minnamurra Rainforest on the second last day of term. The chilly weather didn’t dampen their enthusiasm for the range of activities they undertook.
We became true geographers; using instruments and authentic techniques to collect data on soil temperature, humidity, wind speed, light penetration and water turbidity. Our understanding of the interactions that take place in a temperate rainforest ecosystem were extended by the National Parks Rangers during a presentation and guided walk through the rainforest. There were plenty of interesting stories about the animals and history of the area too.
Year 7 thoroughly enjoyed this enrichment activity that brought to life the content they’ve been learning about in the classroom.
