On Friday 11th of March the Marine Studies class, with teachers Mr Morgan and Mr Artuphel, attended the Boating Safety Education Centre at the Old Pilot Station at Watsons Bay to undergo the practical part of obtaining their boat license.
On the day the students were provided with the opportunity to gain practical experience in areas such as boat handling, rowing, capsizing, righting a dinghy, correct use of lifejackets, small motor use and maintenance, safe launch and boat retrieval, safety equipment, trip planning and emergency procedures.
The students were put through their paces by the Centre Manager, Safety Officer and Mr Morgan and came away with valuable experience and practical information about their role and responsibilities when operating a vessel on the water.
A great day was had by all and the students made the most of the opportunity taking part in all activities with enthusiasm, showing respect to all staff and residents throughout the day.
Needless to say, with such great facilities and experienced staff, all the students passed their boat license with flying colours. Congratulations to all students and thanks to Mr Morgan for organising this valuable experience for our students.
