Gymea Technology High School is a co-educational, comprehensive high school with a focus on technology. There is a selective technology class in each year. The school is situated in the approximate geographical centre of the Sutherland Shire in southern Sydney. It is set in spacious and picturesque surroundings which enhances the positive and safe learning and social environment of the school. The school is well served by public transport, with regular bus services to most areas and a train station, just minutes walk away.

The school has a stable enrolment at around 710 students in Years 7 to 12. This allows students to become known within the school community, and for staff to more easily interact with students to cater for individual needs and differences.

The school has a tradition of high achievement in both the School Certificate and Higher School Certificate. Over the past few years many students have achieved UAI’s in the high 90’s, with a greater than state average number of students achieving in the top 10% of the state. Each year more than 80% of H.S.C students gain their first choice option in tertiary studies.

Students in junior years also perform at a high academic level with excellent performances in the National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) conducted in years 7 and 9 across Australia and the Essential Secondary Science Assessment (ESSA) in year 8. Value-added statistics, which measure the gains in competency, are continually above the state average.

The school is staffed by dedicated, highly qualified teachers who celebrate student success in a positive climate which raises the self-esteem of students and allows them to strive for higher goals and greater endeavours.

The school is supported by a strong parent community through the P & C Association. Parents see the school as being readily accessible, supportive and a friendly, safe place for their children The school is well supported by the local community, including the business community.
