HSC Successes – Well done year 12 2014

Our congratulations to year 12 2014 for their excellent performance and commitment to perform to their best. The Higher School Certificate results are an indication of the dedication and expertise of our teachers, their hard work and ongoing commitment to improving student outcomes. In 2014, 62% of student achievement in the Higher School Certificate were in the top 30% band range.

A comparison of student performance versus state performance across all courses is demonstrating increased positive outcomes and improved results for our students at Gymea with substantial improvement across the school. Our year 12 students have worked hard towards these improvements and are commended for their perseverance and positive outlook.

Over the past 3 years our staff have focused a great deal of professional energy on quality learning programs and clear and guided assessments that lend themselves to building skills and marks in the Higher School Certificate Examination. Engaging our students through clear and supportive processes while exercising a healthy level of disciplined expectations continues to see our students flourish in attitude, skills and performance.

Each year we highlight those courses in which our students shone, where as a course group, they surpassed that of the most others in the state. While there are outstanding performances by students across many courses, these courses deserve the special acknowledgment for 2014.

  • Mathematics General 2

There were again many individual accomplishments and achievements. For some achieving citations from the Board of Studies as Distinguished Achievers but also those students who worked with determination with their peers and teachers to bring about commendable results. Congratulations to year 12 2014 for improvements at those levels that get little recognition and attention. A 20% positive change was achieved by our students in 2014 in moving out of the lower half of performance bands and into the upper performance bands.

The HSC is a milestone for all students no matter their aspirations. This success is measured by their dedication and application to the HSC journey and successful movement towards their dreams. Our students will move off into different directions, many into trades and employment but most onto University. I am proud of their achievements and with the hard work their teachers have made to help them which is seeing growing success in the Higher School Certificate at Gymea.
