The 2016 CHS Girls Cricket tournament was held in Bathurst from February 15 – 18. The tournament comprised of 10 teams from around NSW competing in a round robin competition. The competition consisted of four T20 matches and one 50-over match during the first 3 days, with the semi-final and final being played on the fourth day.
The Sydney East region team was captained by Samantha Robinson of Year 11. This is a most impressive achievement as it is Samantha’s third year representing Gymea in the tournament and to be selected as captain, a huge honour that says a lot about her talent, sportsmanship and leadership.
After winning their first two T20 matches well but narrowly losing their limited overs and final two T20 matches, the Sydney East region team finished a creditable fourth. The team did exceptionally well, but it was their opponent, the Hunter region team that finished third place in the 40-over playoff on the final day.
This is a great achievement and we are so proud of Samantha for not only being a part of this elite team, but in leading them. Congratulations Samantha!
