Last week thirteen students and three staff members successfully completed an Applied First Aid and Resuscitation Certificate. Mr Liley organised for two instructors from Royal Life Saving Society to run the training and assessing program for both staff and students. The certificate forms part of student learning in PDHPE, Sports Fitness and Training and has students completing research and learning tasks prior to the day.
The practical side of the course began at 8.00am and students were assessed throughout the day with all participants completing the theory examination and passing their qualifications with flying colours.
Our students described the day as long and challenging but expressed gratitude for the opportunity to gain their Applied First Aid and Resuscitation qualifications, as one students Mitchell commented, “I’m confident but just hope I don’t have to use these skills in a real life situation.”
