A happy and safe school

Being safe and happy at school is critical for success in all avenues of school life and is the positive culture at Gymea. Our positive behaviour for learning strategy has not only emphasised positive relationships and expectations of safe, respectful and successful learning but has also nurtured the culture of student voice, where students take greater ownership and embrace a sense of belonging to their school.

We have done so much work and made great gains to reach where we are now with a happy and safe school and will not be complacent with what we have.  We will continue ongoing proactive efforts to ensure the school remains as supportive and positive as it is.

Student will at times endure levels of conflict with each other and this is something that forms part of their development and learning. Our roles, the partnership between school staff and parents is to guide and teach our kids to develop as respectful citizens and equip them with the skills to manage differences and conflicts.

Our students reinforce this committment

Our student leadership teams celebrate the concept of student voice and the many positive things that happen in their school and what they believe in. They do this through their own voice website, GTHS Student Central found at http://www.gthsstudentcentral.com

Within this site, they ask students to call out for hep if they need it and ask they look out for each other via an online notification tool called SOS – Student Online Support where they can notify of any wellbeing issues or notify without fear of any bullying or conflict taking place.

Talk to you children about their happiness at school and help us ensure the school continues to flourish as a happy and safe school.
