Over the last two weeks Academic Guidance Workshops were conducted with year 11 students following their yearly examinations. The workshops focused on highlighting individual student strength in courses with the sort of approaches that have worked for them and can help across courses.
Using their performance data from the yearly examinations, tertiary entrance scores were calculated for each course which allowed students to reflect and compare across courses. With this, students are in a better position to make decisions about modifying their course of study.
The workshops were received by the kids in a positive way with each of them taking away their own message about performance and future directions. With a positive outlook and energy into their study, these workshops are hoped to help Year 11 prepare themselves with study this term in the lead up to their first higher School Certificate assessment tasks later this term.
These workshops and other support programs will be offered and continue through next year. A HSC information night at the beginning of next year will provide parents with deeper insight into processes and support offered in the Higher School Certificate year.
Year 11 have received feedback on their Preliminary Yearly examination performance and have been issued with their reports. Students also received a term 4 calendar with the timetable of their first HSC assessment tasks and the assessment schedule for all HSC courses.
Thank you to Mrs Koukoutaris, Mr Ellis and Mr Liley for facilitating the workshops with the students.
