$20Boss Challenge

Year 9 Commerce students are participating in a nationwide in-school challenge that inspires young Australians to become entrepreneurs, creating businesses that not only make the world a better place but ultimately make a profit.

Students received $20 loans to use as as start-up capital to create their own businesses in teams of 3-5. Initially the students were involved in learning the necessary skills needed to run their own small business- to plan, budget and market their business idea. The teams incorporate these skills into practice in a ‘real world’ challenge running their business for one month. Commerce students launched their $20 Boss Project with a Market Day on 23 August highlighting each individual business which was very well appreciated by the rest of the school.

Students have immersed themselves in this unique and exciting learning opportunity with enthusiasm and have enjoyed unleashing their creativity and enterprising skills. This year’s Market Day was even bigger and better than last year’s. It was certainly a hype of activity in the hall and clearly obvious that our Commerce students got a lot out of this activity which complemented work in class. Many thanks to Mrs Polianitis and Ms Le for organising and co-oordinating this huge event.
