Year 9 Commerce have been involved in a nationwide in-school challenge sponsored by the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) and National Australia Bank (NAB). that inspires young Australians to become entrepreneurs, creating businesses that make the world a better place and ultimately make a profit.
Students have received $20 loans to be used as start-up capital to create their own businesses in teams of 3-5. Initially the students were involved in learning the necessary skills needed to run their own small business- to plan, budget and market their business idea. Currently, the teams are incorporating these skills into practice in a ‘real world’ challenge running their business for one month. We launched our $20 Boss Project with a Market Day which highlighted each individual business and proved to be very successful.
The students involved in this unique and exciting opportunity have all expressed how valuable and inspiring this experience has been. They have immersed themselves in this learning opportunity with enthusiasm and have enjoyed unleashing their creativity and enterprising skills.
